Ballroom Dancing too Popular
02-06-2005 | For the last month the Ballroom Dancing organization received indications that the Ballroom Dancing Competition might become very popular by both Participants and Visitors.
To be on the safe side, the organization has decided to move the competition to a bigger venue. The Ballroom Dancing Competition will now be held in sports complex De Vechtsebanen.

Visitors pay an Entrance Fee of € 5,00 a day, at the door of the venue. |

Parking
The parking availability at the sports complex is limited. There is sufficient parking available on the Mississippidreef and paid parking is available in the garage at the Vechtsebanen.
By Car for the A27
Exit 31 - Ring Utrecht Noord. At the traffic lights follow the Ring (direction Amsterdam / Maarssen). Continue straight on at the next lights and then straight on at the roundabout (direction Maarssen / Amsterdam). You are still on the Ring.
At the following roundabout turn left in the direction of Industrieterrein Overvecht (Franciscusdreef). Vechtsebanen is now signposted. After the second set of lights take the turning to the complex. The first street to the left will take you to the venue.
By Car for the A2
Exit 6 - Ring Utrecht Noord. Follow the ring for as few kilometres until you reach the first roundabout. Turn right in the direction of Industrieterrein Overvecht (Franciscusdreef). Vechtsebanen is now signposted. After the second set of lights take the turning to the complex. The first street to the left will take you to the venue. |

Disciplines |
There are two disciplines:
- Standard (to be danced Friday)
- Latin (to be danced Saturday)
It is allowed to dance both disciplines with a different partner. |
Categories |
There are three categories:
- Adults male couples
- Adults female couples
- Senior combined male couples and female couples
Couples with an average age of over 40 are allowed to compete in either the Adults or the Senior or in both competitions. It is not allowed to dance in different categories with a different partner.

Warming up |
Between 9:00 and 09:50 hrs the floor will be open as usual to the competitors. |
Competitors desk |
Between 9:00 and 9:45 hrs the competitors must get their numbers at the competitors desk. |
Dance floor |
The dimensions of the dance floor are 13,80 x 29,85 metres. |
Speaker |
Jan Pieter van Lieshout will lead the competition verbally for two days. He is expected to give us all the instructions concerning who, when, where and with who. |
Music |
The music will be trusted to the hands and ears of Berry Bley. Berry promised us some very fine ballroom and hot latin. |
Competition planning |
The scheduling of the competition will be done by Jaap Ruiten, who does this also professionally for the NADB, the Dutch IOC-related Dance organization. Jaap also cooperated in the 1998 Amsterdam Gay Games. |
Adjudicators |
The competition will be judged by: Bent Davidsen, Davy Brocatus, Eric Somers, Frank Röpke, Gerry van Dijk, Hazel Newberry, Marischka Bours, Marja de Geus, Steve Groleau, Sylvia van Geldre, Vernon Kemp.

Meet & Greet |
Official Meet & Greet practice - competitors only.
Wednesday 15 June, 19:30-21:30 hrs.
Rijk Dance masters (Nieuwegein).
This practice will be organized by our DJ Berry Bleij. He provides the competitors with the finest ballroom tunes and hottest latin sounds of the competition as warming up for the event.
Entrance € 5,00 per person.
The venue is located in Nieuwegein and very easy to reach by public transport or car.
