Being an active sporting gay or lesbian in The Netherlands is in most cases easier than in a lot of other countries. Helping less fortunate gays and lesbians throughout the world becoming active members of the sporting community is a tradition of the EGLSF, which will be upheld in Utrecht.
The organisation has reserved a substantial part of our budget for outreach and will play an active role in encouraging the gay and lesbian community, (gay and lesbian) business and city government to create a financial, social and secure environment for athletes who are really eager to practice sports in their countries.
Target Areas
There are three target areas: East European Countries, the Caribbean part of the European Community and the sister cities of Utrecht.
The very good relationship between the Nat Utrecht swimmers and swimmers from several East European countries, has already resulted in the founding of a new swimming club in Budapest (Hungary).
The secretary of the board of the EuroGames Utrecht Foundation is going to persuade several Caribbean gays and lesbians to come to Utrecht.
The city of Utrecht has been actively stimulating gay and lesbian emancipation in her sister cities, León in Nicaragua and Brno in the Czeck Republic. EuroGames Utrecht wants to add sports to the list of emancipation and invite active gays and lesbians of our sister cities to join.
