Squash is Here to Stay!

More than 80 people, coming from France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the Netherlands competed in 4 different levels in this year's squash tournament. A huge succes for the organising club Gay Squash Utrecht as this was their first tournament ever!

Open and intimate
For two days the Squash Utrecht Centre was turned into a sporting venue filled with rainbow colours, music, theatresport, massage, aerobic warming up, laughter and flying squashballs. The ambiance was open, relaxed and intimate. One girl behind the bar even rearranged her workingschedule so she could be there during the tournament. How about that!

Singalong on friday
Squashers like hitting a ball but they are also good singers. Especially when you have some beers and a live Dutch music act during the evening dinner at the squash centre. Ciska and Sonja performed on their accordion Dutch songs with huge success. All participants were able to sing along perfectly with 'Una paloma blanca', 'Dokter Bernard' and 'Kleine café aan de haven'.

Outstanding performances
The matches were outstanding and great to watch. Former Dutch squash champion Hugoline van Hoorn was invited to hand out all the medals.
Squash is definitely a sport with EuroGames potential. Each year it grows in popularity and quality. This tournament confirms this trend: squash is here to stay!
