Don't Expect too Much of Me

Karen Ruddock is an English girl playing for the Australian women hockey team Bentstix Playpuss competing against the Dutch Divas.

It sounds like a very international event but add the Germans to the list and you have all the nationalities competing in the women's Field Hockey Competition.
Ruddock: "On the EuroGames web site they announced that 8 teams subscribed but there are only 4 teams here. I don't know what happened. Hockey is a big sport especially in Holland so you would expect a lot of subscriptions. The English team that I was supposed to play in fell apart. But luckily I got in contact with these Australian girls from Bentstix Playpuss and I was able to join them. And it's good fun. We met each other yesterday but it feels like we've been playing together for years."

The feeling might have been good; the results have not been keeping up. The former policewoman: "Yes, we need to win the next 2 games in order to reach the final. But the Dutch all have a great technique. They start out really young. I started for example when I was 24. So don't expect too much of me."
Ruddock apparently does not suffer from an inflated ego. The 'Australians' beat The Dutch Divas 2-1.
